Ashtanga Yoga: Abridged Primary Series

This 60-minute session delivers the discipline of the traditional Primary Series in a condensed format. This class honors the "eight-limbed" path of Ashtanga including mindset, physical postures, breath control, and meditation.

While a full Primary Series requires 90 minutes, this abridged version maintains the traditional vinyasa count by focusing on the essential pillars of the sequence.

The Sequence

  • Sun Salutations: Complete Surya Namaskara A & B to build internal heat and establish the breath.
  • Standing Sequence: The fundamental postures to develop balance, groundedness, and alignment.
  • Abridged Seated Series: A curated selection of seated asanas focusing on hip opening and forward folds.
  • Finishing Sequence: Backbends and inversions to soothe the nervous system and seal the practice.

Requirements

  • Intermediate Level: This is not a beginner class. Students must have a basic understanding of yoga asanas.
  • Focus: Expect a rigorous pace designed to build strength, sharpen concentration, and calm the mind.

About Anna Ji

Anna first discovered yoga in 2012, starting with a beginner's DVD and a mat in her living room. Under the careful guidance of a few amazing teachers, she continues to deepen her practice, focusing on discipline, patience, and dynamic movement rooted in Ashtanga principles.

Having recently completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification, Anna looks forward to sharing her knowledge and experience with students seeking to cultivate strength, peace, and stability through yoga.
